New volunteer requirements: TB screening, fingerprinting, and mandated reporter training.

VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS – TB Screening, Fingerprinting & Training

The District has updated its volunteer requirements, so now is the time to get cleared and ready to volunteer! All requirements will be in effect immediately after Fall Break.

Level One Volunteers – TB Clearance

All Level One volunteers - including all parent volunteers at school - are now required to obtain TB clearance.

  • To complete this requirement, you will need to have the TB Risk Assessment Form completed by a medical provider, such as your primary care physician.
  • Depending on your answers to the risk assessment questions, you may also need to provide proof of a negative TB test completed within the last 60 days. See below for testing options.

Level Two Volunteers – Fingerprinting & Training

All Level Two volunteers - including field trip chaperones and any volunteer who may be alone with students - must also complete:

  • Live Scan Fingerprinting: Obtain a Live Scan form from Kirstie Briones in the Baywood Office, then take it to a facility that provides Live Scan services. Many local UPS stores offer Live Scan, but please contact the location directly to confirm availability. You will need a valid ID and there is a fee for the service. Please let Kirstie know if the fee presents a financial hardship.
  • Mandated Reporter Training: Complete the online Mandated Reporter Training for Volunteers. You will receive a certificate upon completion. There is a $10 fee for the certificate; please contact Kirstie if the fee presents a financial hardship.

Get It Done at the Family & Ice Cream Social!

You can take care of your TB Risk Assessment and Live Scan Fingerprinting at the Family & Ice Cream Social on Friday, September 25!

We’ll have information and resources available in the MPR to help you get the process started. Get more information and sign up HERE. Or just stop by the MPR during the event to learn more. The TB Risk Assessment is free. There is a fee for the Live Scan Fingerprinting, but it is discounted from most other third-party locations.

Please note: The free TB Risk Assessment Screening offered at the Family & Ice Cream Social is only available to individuals who do not meet the criteria for recommended TB testing, as described in the TB Risk Assessment Form.

If you meet the criteria for recommended TB testing, testing is available through:

  • Your primary care physician
  • A local urgent care center
  • San Mateo County Mobile Clinic – See HERE for locations and schedules.
  • Samaritan House Free Clinic – Free TB testing is available to adults who reside in San Mateo and do not have health insurance. Call 650-347-3648 for more information.

Submitting Your Documentation

Once you have completed your requirements, please provide all documentation to Kirstie Briones in the Baywood Office. You can drop off your documents at the office or email them directly to kbriones@smfc.k12.ca.us.

Voluntarios de nivel dos: toma de huellas dactilares y capacitación

La toma de huellas dactilares Live Scan tiene un costo, pero suele ser más económica que en la mayoría de los centros externos.

Tenga en cuenta: La prueba gratuita de evaluación de riesgo de tuberculosis que se ofrece en el evento Family & Ice Cream Social solo está disponible para personas que no cumplen con los criterios para la realización de la prueba de tuberculosis recomendada, tal como se describe en el formulario de evaluación de riesgo de tuberculosis.

  • Un centro de atención de urgencias local
  • Clínica móvil del condado de San Mateo: consulte AQUÍ las ubicaciones y los horarios.
  • Clínica gratuita Samaritan House: Se ofrecen pruebas de tuberculosis gratuitas a adultos residentes de San Mateo que no cuentan con seguro médico. Llame al 650-347-3648 para obtener más información.

Presentación de su documentación

Una vez que haya cumplido con los requisitos, entregue toda la documentación a Kirstie Briones en la oficina de Baywood. Puede entregar los documentos personalmente en la oficina o enviarlos por correo electrónico directamente a kbriones@smfc.k12.ca.us.
