Letter from the Asst. Superintendent and Superintendent of the School District:

Dear Baywood Elementary School Community,

I would like to thank the families who were able to attend the meeting on Monday, February 12 to provide input on the selection of your new principal. As many parents commented, Maria Majka is a highly regarded and respected principal and the community would like to find a new leader to continue to move Baywood Elementary School forward.

Contract dispute between SMFCSD and SMETA

A number of parents have expressed concern about what they can do now that mediation between the San Mateo-Foster City School District and the San Mateo Elementary Teachers’ Association has failed and teachers are talking about striking.

First, let us clarify the PTA’s position on this matter. Because the PTA is an organization whose membership is made up of parents, teachers, students, school district employees, school board members, and community members, the PTA must remain neutral in the dispute between the school district and teachers.
